SHOW ME

Q1. Open the Bonnet, identify where you would check the engine oil and tell me how you would chek the engine has sufficient oil.

A1. Identify dipstick / oil level indicator and check level is between min and max marks when the engine is cold.


Q2. Show me explain how you would check the power steering is workibefore startingng your journey.

A2. As you start the engine pull down on the steering wheel it should become lighter easier to turn.


Q3. Open the bonnet and identify how you wolud check the coolant level.

A3. Identify the min max marks check levelis are between min max when cold.


Q4. Show me how you would check the Handbrake is working.

A4. Apply footbrake, apply handbrake so when fully on it secures itself and is not at the end of its working travel.


Q5. Identify where the windscreen washer reservoir is and tell me how you would check its level.

A5. Identify the reservoir and visually check fluid level.


Q6. Show me how you would check the Horn is working.

A6. Turn on engine and gently toot horn.


Q7. Open the bonnet and tell me how you would check the brake fluid level

A7. Identify min max marks and ensure levels in between.


Q8. Show me how you would check indicators are working.

A8. Apply indicators or switch on Hazards check all are working (swicth on engine if needed)


Q9. Show me how you would check Brakelights are working.

A9. Apply brake lights and check in reflection or ask someone to help you.



Q10. Tell me how you would check the barkes are working

A10. Apply the brake pedal, pedal should not be slack or spongy and should not pull to the sould.


Q11. Tell me how you would check the Head lights & Tail lights are working. No need to exit the vehicle.

A11. Switch on the lights and get out and walk around the vehicle to check all lights are working.


Q12. Tell me where you would find the Tyre pressures and how you would check the pressures are correct.

A12. Manufacturers guide, use a reliable gauge and check and adjust all five tyres when cold.


Q13. Tell me how you would check the Tyre tread depth is correct and the Tyres are safe to use on the road.

Q13. No cuts or bulges and a minimum tread depth of 1.6mm across the cenral 3/4 width of the tyre around the entire circumference.


Q14. Show me how you would clean the windscreen using washers & wipers.

A14. Operate the washer and wipers (switch on engine if needed).


Q15. Show me how you would set the demisters to clear all the windows

A15. Set all the controls fan, temperature, air direction and front and rear heated winows.


Q16. Show me how you would switch on the rear fog light(s) and tell me when you would use them.

A16. Turn on ignition switch on dipped headlights & switch on fog lights. Should be used when visibility is less than 100 metres.


Q17. Show me how you would switch from dipped headlights to main beam and explain how you would know the main beam was on whilst you are in the vehicle.

Q17. Turn on dipped lights and switch to main beam using the switch and check main beam warning light.


Q18. Tell me how you would adjust the head restraint is correctly  to give best protection in the event of a crash.

A18. Head restraint should be adjusted so that the rigid part of the head restraint is level with the eye or the top of the ear and as close to the back of the head that is comfortable.


Q19. Tell me how you would know there was a problem with the ABS system.

A19. The warning light should come on if there is a fault with the ABS.
